The ERA was incorporated in 1956 by a group of local citizens who recognized a gap in services for people in need within the community. The ERA publishes an informational brochure that states “Up to 5,000 individuals receive assistance each month. Aid is given to help them meet their immediate needs and get them back on their feet fast. Each request for assistance is evaluated on an individual basis. Services provided include motel vouchers, clothing, shoes, homeless kits, diapers, blankets, emergency food, information and referral, transportation, medical supplies and related assistance.”
