Seattle, Washington – M.C. Gill Corporation is pleased to announce the qualification of its GillcoreT HK honeycomb core to the Boeing BMS 8-124 material specification. M.C. Gill has been manufacturing GillcoreT HK honeycomb since 2000, and currently supplies this lightweight honeycomb core to a number of key aircraft manufacturers and aerospace companies in both the U.S. and Europe. Manufactured from DuPont Kevlar® N636 paper, this lightweight honeycomb core is an alternative to Nomex®, Korex® and fiberglass honeycomb and is planned for use on the revolutionary Boeing 787 Dreamliner® aircraft. The improved shear strength and modulus of GillcoreT HK honeycomb allows composite part designers to use lower density honeycomb core to realize potential weight savings. Potential aircraft applications include interiors – such as flooring, sidewalls, ceilings, galleys and lavatories. Additional potential uses are in aircraft secondary structures, in particular engine nacelles, wing trailing and leading edge components, fairings, wingtips and access doors. GillcoreT HK honeycomb is available as blocks, sheets or finished core details. Densities range from 2.0 to 10.0 pounds per cubic foot with cell sizes available at 1/8″, 5/32″, and 3/16″. Thicknesses range from 0.080″ up to 35″, with lengths up to 144″ and widths up to 60″. In addition, to GillcoreT HK honeycomb, M.C. Gill Corporation is a key supplier of GillcoreT HD Nomex® honeycomb, aircraft passenger and cargo floor panels, interior sandwich panels, and cargo liners. With a global presence, and headquartered in El Monte, California, the company continues to expand its product line to meet the evolving requirements of its extensive customer base.
