El Monte, California – 23 September 2003 – M.C. Gill was honored as City of El Monte Recycler of the Year. This is the result of the company’s progressive recycling program that is responding to a state mandate to reduce waste by 50 percent. Certificates of recognition were also awarded by state and federal officials to acknowledge this achievement. Over the last two years the company has doubled the amount of recycled materials gathered and sent to reprocessors. These include a lot of different materials collected, such as metal from ducting, pipes and fittings, scrap aluminum, cardboard and office paper in addition to broken pallets that make up most of the wood recycling. A new program is also beginning to send plastic materials into the recycling stream. The last two decades have increased the awareness to global recycling. M.C. Gill continues to support these efforts by constantly searching for new ways to reduce what is sent to landfills, and recycling more and more.
